In moments of reflection, I find myself as a small particle in a universe that is moving along without me. Through my photography, I am able to express and showcase these observations of conscious and unconscious feelings and emotions. A contemplation of delusion, reality, individuality, and the self. I highlight the idea of the individual by presenting myself in my most vulnerable places and positions. Posing myself in the bedroom and bathroom, which acted as my sanctuaries from family, people, and reality as a child and now as an adult. Positioning myself in what I consider “intimate apparel” with my body facing the camera in very open and vulnerable stances. Parallel to the intimacy and vulnerability of the individual’s body, the images of nature function as moments of quietness and serenity throughout the self-evaluation process, and as initiators of feelings of grandeur. The photographs are taken in locations of significant moments of self-reflection either in response to an event or the action of the image-making process is within itself a moment of self-reflection.
